Cascade Creature – Weird Blob Filmed In The Deep Seas

Cascade Creature – Mysterious Gigantic Deep Sea Monster?

Cascade Creature 1

A huge weird blob was filmed by a remote-controlled underwater camera and it’s been named the Cascade Creature. The deep sea huge sighting has been intensely discussed but what could it be? It’s size is very big, somewhere around six meters, it’s brownish skin has hexagonal shapes on it and it’s extremely weird and creepy.

This video is once again proof that the ocean is one huge place filled with all sorts of creatures, of which we have no knowledge. On the surface of this strange new sighting you can even notice an elaborate network of veins, apart from the perfect hexagonal shapes.

As soon as the video turned viral, scientists of all sorts hopped to analyze the strange footage, in hopes that they can clarify what all the commotion is about. Some have said it’s something man-made: like a huge fishing net (in my humble opinion, that’s highly likely), but they were soon contradicted by the very evident elements that prove this huge creature was once alive. It has an intricate blood vessel system and the texture of it’s “skin” confirms it was once a living creature.

Also, in the video, we can see a large appendix, of a different consistency, which lead some experts to conclude that it couldn’t possibly be a whale’s placenta, since a placenta is smooth and with no adherences.

What is probably the most plausible explanation yet, is that of an oceanographer who stated that the huge floating blob may be the remains of a jellyfish called Deepstaria enigmatica (pretty suitable name, wouldn’t you agree). This type of jellyfish has not been studied properly due to the fact that there have only been 114 times over a period of 111 years.

However from the little information marine biologists have of it, we can tell you that Deepstaria enigmatica, belongs to the Ulmaridae family, first spotted in 1967 by F.S. Russel. The bell of this jellyfish is very thin and wide (60 cm), and resembles a “lava lamp” when it moves.

A marine biologist stated that

“most specimens reported colorless but deep brown exumbrella and stomach lining a paler brown recorded once; more observations needed before value of this as species character can be evaluated.”

Not sure what it is but one thing’s for sure, if the ocean has things like this huge creature in it… we’re in for a bumpy ride when they might decide to come say hello. Have a look at the video below and let us know what you think it may be.

May 11th, 2012 UPDATE:  The Cascade Creature has been identified!

After it got all of the internet world taking guesses as to what it may be, the weird blob that was filmed near a deep-sea drilling rig off the coast of the United Kingdom has finally been identified.

After a thorough analysis of the amazing video, oceanographer Steven Haddock, a scientist at teh Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in Moss Landing, Calif. concluded that the cascade creature is indeed a Deepstaria enigmatica. The scientist declared that:

“This bag-like jelly is not that rare, but is large, so rarely seen intact. In the video, the swirling from the sub makes the medusa appear to undulate and it even turns inside-out … The web-like pattern is not a nerve net, as some comments have said. It is branches from their digestive system”

So there you have it guys, the mystery of the weird blob has been solved, but what about the rest of the strange creatures the ocean has to offer us? Check some of them out here.
